The committee calls for nominations for the 2018 award. The open nomination for the 2018 International Ibsen Award is open, and you can nominate your candidates until April 2017.


The committe of the International Ibsen Award is appointed by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture.

The 2016-2018 committe decides the winner of the International Ibsen Award 2018. The deciding committee for The International Ibsen Award consists of senior figures within theatre, appointed by the Norwegian ministry of culture. Suggestions for new committee members are put forward by a wide range of cultural and dramatic institutions and organizations. The committee travel worldwide to see performances linked to nominated parties and have several meetings before deciding on a winner.

The members of the committee are artistic director of the Norwegian Opera Per Boye Hansen, Swedish director Sofia Jupither, French director Stephan Braunschweig, artistic director of the Norwegian National Theatre Hanne Tømta, Russian dramaturg Roman Dolzhanskiy and German dramaturg Dr. Thomas Oberender. The announcement of the 2018 winner will be made in March 2018. The award ceremony and symposium takes place during the International Ibsen Festival at the National Theatrein Oslo, September 2018.
